Comments:- For the AAUK calendar.
When I first started this picture, the calendar had a theme. Bishounen being
watched / under surveillance; also, there was to be no nudity or graphic yaoi.
I found it a really hard theme, and couldn't really come up with anything, but
after a good deal of thinking, stressing and sleepless nights I realized that
if I did the February page in the calendar I could also add a sub-theme of Valentines
day. I could have a guy opening his locker and finding a Valentines Day card
or Love Letter, whilst the boy who gave him it could secretly be watching to
see his reaction; thus covering Valentines Day, Bishounen (albeit a little younger
looking than I like) and even the Being Watched theme.
Unfortunately, much to my extreme irritation the theme seems to
have been semi abandoned, with only a handful of the artist who were working
on the project able to come up with something fitting the theme.
I was trying to give this another slightly different style to my usual technique, I wanted it to look like something out of a dating sim game. I don't think it worked *but* I still like it. Half solid cel style, half shaded. Also, not my usual subject, I'm not very comfortable drawing things outside of fantasy and sci-fi. Damn, I hated drawing those lockers! The kid in the background looked weird from day one, at last minute I decided to change his look, thank God! I think the change was better, although it looks like he could *really* do with a hair cut X3 I designed the pic over at NeurOekaki funnily enough^^;; Although the finished pic is of course a photoshop pic - but then you probably could tell that, ne ^^
